Replacing our 1984 Eagle

On October 25th 1997, Dawn and I were participating in The Tombstone Trail. Just before finishing the event, the front U-joint on the front driveshaft came loose from the yoke. The driveshaft crashed into the side of the transmission bellhousing, taking out a big chunk. It also cracked the bellhousing and one of the attachment points on the engine. I put the car into 2 wheel drive to limp to the endpoint, and then home. My 82 Eagle was  retired, at 201,600 miles.

We found another car late in November, 1997. A 1986 AMC Eagle Wagon, woodgrain, power everything, cloth interior, cassette, shift on the fly 4wd, and more! The previous owner claims it was owned by the sales manager of a local AMC dealer, and he bought it with very low mileage late in 1986 from the sales manager, not the dealer. I kind of wonder; It sounds like a dealer demo car to me. It has a serial number of 7000189. Stay tuned for pictures and more details about the car!

CAR FIRE!
Dawn and I lost our '86 AMC Eagle to a car fire the evening of January 24th, 1998. Follow the link for details and pictures

We Finally found another AMC Eagle! After several months of searching, we found an '87 Eagle Limited Wagon, and an '84 Eagle Limited Wagon.  They both see regular day-to-day service. The '87 had the transmission rebuilt in the spring of 2000, and the '84 had the engine swapped right after that due to coolant leaks.
